PERSON CENTRED THERAPY

Carl Rogers

Carl Rogers was a psychologist who researched the Person Centred Approach in USA in the 1940s, 50's & 60's. .During the  70's & 80's he wrote several books on the subject. He found that by showing empathy, unconditional positive regard (not judging)  & congruence (being genuine & upfront) in therapy that people grow towards psychological growth. He called this tendency the actualising tendency. I use these conditions & find that people do grow towards psychological growth in therapy with me
